Being stuck in her world when it came to washing her ear she was interrupted by a voice who was none other then her deputy. Sitting up straight she bowed her head in greetings and smailed at his comment of apprentices waking up. giving a little laugh she mewed, ''Well sir, last I looked those other apprentices in the den might be sleeping for a whole other moon it looked like. Watching her deputy and his gaze she saw he was looking towards the freshkill pile. About to open her mouth he quickly got it first and asked if he wanted to go on a morning hunt with him. Eyes widening she felt butterflys in her stomach and almost couldnt respond. I would be honored to go hunting with you! Getting up and giving one last shake she stretched her legs out and gave one last yawn. She looked around and then asked, ''Will it be just us or will we wait for others to come with?'' She tilted her head to the side in curiosity and waited for an answer.

The tom's smile widened at the other's apparent politeness. He gave her the same action she'd given him, nearly laughing aloud at her first reply. Thankfully Leopardmist kept his composure. He curled his tail around his paws as he put on a sinister grin. "I see. I suppose I should tell each of their mentors to up their schedules since it seems they'll have so much extra energy to spare." He tried his hand at an 'evil' purr, the sound working quite well with his low voice. He was silent once more when he planned to wait for the she-cat's answer though he wouldn't need to wait long at all. Her excitement warmed the older cat's heart, though he didn't realize that her excitement just might be from being able to hunt with the Deputy himself. He knew hunting with the Leader was a big deal but he wasn't as quite aware of his station. Not like stations had anything to do with hunting anyway.
Nevertheless the tom gave her an approving nod. "Good, good." He held a thoughtful look at her question before simply getting to his feet. "I believe we'll do just fine. Its a hunting party, not a patrol after all. Unless you have someone you want to bring along?" He mewed, ears perked to hear a name. He'd have probably barged into the Warrior den and dragged one of them with them but he felt rather confident at the moment. He hoped she would echo his mood in some way.

Shaking her head she was ready to go really. ''I have no in mind unless you do.'' Padding up next to her deputy she looked into his eyes and mewed, ''I'm ready when you are!'' Stormpaw felt a cool breeze blow past her and the sun came and went with clouds covering it once in a while. So it was just going to be the two of them.. what an honor that was! Being with the leader or deputy Stormpaw felt it as an honor no matter what. She didnt have favorites.. between the leader and the deputy she liked them both equally. Yet if they both asked her to do something also she would be the first one to get it done. She was very trusting. Before she left with Leopardmist she looked back at the quiet camp happy that it was only her and Leopardmist. This was a good time to bond with him.. just get to know him a little bit better. Thats fi he would allow it.

It seemed like they would go as a pair in the end. Expected considering the earlier hours. Leopardmist gave the tiny feline a nod before meeting her gaze as she looked up at him. "Very good," He meowed, "Let us be off then. The nearby area should be good enough to catch a mouse or two. We may even get a bird if they're so daring." With that the tom took point to lead them from the camp. His tail hung high in the air, a sign of feline confidence; when he'd led her a short ways from the camp. Technically they were right behind the main entrance but few cats traversed the area outside patrols or hunts. Plus it seemed the prey liked to think they were sneaky hiding behind a cat's back.
They'd reached a good shady spot, shadows from the trees overlapping with those of the sky. He took in a breath, scented the air. No rain. Not yet but the way those clouds were gathering would mean a storm later in the season. Perhaps even tomorrow if the breeze continued and strengthened. Turning to the small she-cat, Leopardmist signaled to the area with his tail. "Well little one show me your skills. Show me what you've learned so far." He motioned for her to go ahead, planning to keep a distance between himself and her to allow her space to work. He was rather eager to see how this little apprentice would do, wondering just how well her last mentor had taught her before his untimely passing.

Stormpaw followed with joy and excitement and held her tail high also just like her deputy did. She followed for a bit seeing how different her home looked from what she remembered in leaf bare. She liked it better this way. Full of life and happiness. Taking in a deep breath she could taste the newleaf and sunshine. She almost didnt catch what her deputy was telling her but got the last part of his sentence. Show me what you've learned so far was what she got. An image of her mentor came to her mind and a little bit of her died inside. He was a good mentor he really was.. Spacing out for a few moments the young cat just looked at her deputy and nodded slowly.
Trotting forward the she cat got into her zone. She went through all of the things her mentor had taught her. Stopping a few lengths ahead of her mentor she scanned the area. Slowly looking around she knew she had to take in every detail of the forest. Crouching low she started. Slowly. Finally a twig snapped in the distance and her eyes and head turned right towards the sound.
Giving a low growl she opened her mouth and saw she was upwind of the animal, she had to be down wind. Backing up slowly she knew where she had to be. Moving around and getting down wind she finally found her spot and what she was hunting. A mouse. Just a simple mouse searching through the forest floor for food. Taking one quiet step at a time she inched her way forward. Stepping on a leaf it cracked under her and the mouse stopped what it was doing and so did she. Stay still.. she said in her head. Inhaling through her nose and out her mouth she knew she had to make a move soon and fast or else...
About to give a leap for her prey a call came from another direction in the forest and before she knew it an hawk came down in front of her and scooped up the mouse and took it away into the sky. Stormpaw padded to the opening of where the mouse was and sat down watching the hawk fly away. Giving a sigh she turned and looked toward her deputy and mewed, ''That would happen to me..''
